Confirmation
|
In the Acts of the Apostles, we hear the story of the Holy Spirit coming upon the Apostles like tongues of fire (Acts 2:1-11). In Confirmation we are given the Gifts of the Holy Spirit: Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, Fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:2); and the Fruits of the Holy Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Generosity, Gentleness, Faithfulness, Modesty, Self-Control, Chastity (Galatians 5: 22-23).
Confirmations are celebrated annually with a Bishop. The preparation helps Catholics understand the promises made for them at Baptism. All Confirmandi are interviewed to determine their willingness to live as Catholics. Candidates attend a retreat and are expected to do service. A donation is requested. Children: All children should be enrolled in the Religious Education Program from first through eighth grades if they are not in a Catholic School. Adults: Please call the parish office to inquire about RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). |
