Religious Education
Motivation
“People were bringing their little children to him to have him touch them, but the disciples were scolding them for this. Jesus became indignant when he noticed it and said to them: ‘Let the children come to me and do not hinder them. It is to just such as these that kingdom of God belongs. I assure you that whoever does not accept the reign of God like a little child shall not take part in it.’ Then he embraced them and blessed them, placing his hands on them.” (Mark 10: 13-16)

Description of Program
Through Classes on Saturday & Monday and special activities, the religious education program at Our Lady of the Rosary Church offers a complete curriculum of religious formation for children, youth and their parents. Our program is for the whole family! We recognize that parents are indeed the primary religious educators, it is through parents, together with and supported by other members of the faith community that the Gospel of Jesus is proclaimed and celebrated. In school, children learn according to their age and grade level.
The process of the religious education of your children is similar. Each year they learn something more about our faith and what it means to follow Jesus. It is important that the children continue to grow in their understanding of what we, Catholics believe and how we put God’s word into practice in our daily lives.
Team of Catechists
Our catechists receive preparation and continual formation to help them be good instructors of your children and youth. They are all volunteers and choose to dedicate their time to share their faith and its practice with your children. This is one of the ways they choose to respond to God’s call to collaborate in Christ’s mission. 1-8 Bishops mandate.
Is it just enough to receive the Sacraments?
No. To receive a sacrament is also a commitment we make with God. We make a commitment to continue being close to Jesus. We promise to grow more in that relationship. Further Formation classes in our program and other groups in our parish. give young people the opportunity to fulfill that commitment and to learn more about their faith.
In addition, every person who receives a sacrament must live out that sacrament in his life. In a special way, we invite children and young people to attend Mass on Sundays with their families.
Do parents have to participate in this program?
Yes. It is the parents’ responsibility to raise their children in the faith. That was a commitment that every parent made at the moment of the child’s baptism. Parents are the first teachers of their children’s faith our program is here to help parents be the best of teachers. Faith begins when parents begin to share their faith at home. Teachers are the parents’ helpers. In this way, parents and teachers work together.
Parents must come to parents’ formation meetings during the year. This is a requirement of the Religious Education Program for your child to receive the sacraments
Why do parents have to go to the meetings?
By participating in the meetings parents will be given more tools to help the children at home with their lessons. Also, this is an opportunity for the parents to obtain more Christian formation and grow in the faith.
